Top 5 plain styles

Here are our top 5 plain styles, in descending order of popularity and all available colours.

Number 1: Herring Chaucer wholecuts in Black Calf

Herring Chaucer is a stunning wholecut shoe, made from fine leathers on a Goodyear welted leather sole. The wholecut is one of the hardest shoes to make. It requires one flawless piece of leather and a craftsman who can meticulously shape that one piece over the last, stitch it to the sole and finish it without a single mistake. Every gentleman should own at least one wholecut just to admire the handcraft that goes into it.

Number 2: Herring Shrewsbury hybrid-soled Oxfords

If you want to experience the ultimate shoe then we would suggest a wholecut has to be a contender. To make this shoe you need a flawless piece of leather, a skilled craftsman to expertly pull the leather over the last without ripping it and a superb hand-finisher to give it the colour and shine it deserves. None of that comes cheap so Shrewsbury represents amazing value for money.

Number 3: Wildsmith Model 70 Chelsea boots

Model 70 is a Chelsea boot from the iconic name of Wildsmith, a brand born in Piccadilly. The city to country credentials of a Chelsea boot are well known but this Wildsmith version has a few twists, born of their long legacy and heritage. First off the distinctive Wildsmith diamond runs up the heel and there is further detailing in the collar and the padded insole. Comfort is taken further with the addition of a Blake-stitched sole for flexibility and a zip closure so they are so easy to get on and off.

Number 4: Herring Noble slippers

Noble is a soft deerskin slipper with elegant piping around the top edge. They are an excellent house shoe or slipper having a soft leather sole. Please note that due to the fine leather they will wear very quickly if worn outside or on abrasive surfaces - that is the trade-off for such a soft and light slipper. If you need to return them for a quality issue please do so immediately as we cannot accept shoes with scuffs as faulty.

Number 5: Wildsmith Model 91 rubber-soled Derby shoes

A plain fronted Derby on a lightweight sole, Model 91 is a modern interpretation of one of the simplest shoes in the back-catalogue of formal shoes. The Derby lacing gives plenty of room and the unadorned front is as simple as it is timeless. Coming from Wildsmith, you will also get the diamond punching and diamond stitch detailing which makes this brand more contemporary than others.
