Deck shoes, also known as boat shoes, are often of moccasin construction. This means they are light and very flexible. They also feature siped or slit soles that are designed to provide excellent grip on the wet surface of a yacht or motorboat. Sperry are considered the inventors of the original deck shoe but now there are many manufacturers that specialise in deck trainers, yacht shoes and more casual but marine inspired footwear. They will often have a 360-degree lace, non-marking lightweight, cemented sole and a wide opening, so they slip-on and off easily. We make our boating shoes mostly in Portugal which has a very rich nautical heritage and is widely respected as the best manufacturer.
